A third book signing featuring the first family of high school football in Illinois is being held Saturday, December 2nd at Bunn Gourmet. The book titled “Victorious! A Story of Faith, Family and Football in the Heartland” tells the story of Ken Leonard, the Sacred Heart-Griffin coach who became the winningest coach in state history, and his son, Derek, who has developed the most successful public school football program in state history at Rochester.
The book written by award-winning sportswriter Mike Chamness goes behind the scenes to tell the story of incredible state championship wins, gut-wrenching losses and the impact Ken and Derek have had on the lives of their players. As the title suggests, “Victorious!” is about more than football. It tells the inspirational story of the faith journey of the Leonards as the family experienced triumph and tragedy. The book includes a very personal Foreword written by Scott Hanson, host of the popular NFL RedZone show each Sunday of the NFL season.
The cost of the book is $24.95, with $3 per book sold at the signing going to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in central Illinois.
